SPRING CAR MAINTENANCE

As the old saying goes: "April showers bring May flowers". Well those springtime showers also can bring headaches to automobile owners. Worn out tires and windshield wiper blades can put drivers at serious risk during the typically rainy months of spring.

Thin tire treads create a hazardous driving condition called hydropaning when water builds up on the roadways. hydroplaning occurs when your vehicle rides up on a film of water, losing contact with the pavement, similar to driving on ice. Deep tire tread can handle the accumulated water and move it safely out from under the tire. A simple way to check tire tread depth is with a penny. Insert the penny into the grooves of the tread. If you are able to see all of Lincoln's head, the tire needs replacement.

Did you know that 90% of driving decisions depend on good vision? This makes a clean windshield critical. Worn wiper blades leave streaks and smears which impairs vision. Replacing worn wiper blades is easy and inexpensive. So don't put it off until there's a downpour and your blades are chattering and smearing the windshield?
